At the recent Bradford Pothole Club winch meet by Gaping Ghyll we met a guy selling amazing cards raising funds to support British cave expeditions undertaking exploration and cave science.
The pack of ten high quality cards are blank inside so can be used for any purpose – and the pictures are certainly unique.
You can buy the cards from Bernies or Inglesport in Ingleton; Hitch n Hike in Hope Valley, Derbshire or from the Ghar Parau Shop – follow the link for more information.
If cavers would like any advice or have questions about organising or participating in caving expeditions etc abroad they can contact the Ghar Parau Foundation who will put them in contact with the relevant people.

Part of ‘The Dales’ TV programme on ITV1 tonight at 8pm is about caving in Yorkshire.
The system featured on the programme is Long Churns which offers a huge range of caving activity for various skill and exerience levels. We provide caving adventures and experiences across Yorkshire, including Long Churn, so if you’d like to experience caving, or develop your existing skills then contact Rock Steady Adventure and we’ll arrange a group event just for you.
Our standard packages include a half day caving experience for a group of ten at £55 per person, or a full day Caving Adventure for £89 per person based on a group of eight. The full day adventures include a hearty lunch and you can choose whether to spend a day underground or combine caving with Rock Climbing – see the Adventures section of our website and contact us for more information. We can obviously tailor a day to suit your group’s needs and we provide all safety equipment – you just need to bring some clothes you don’t mind getting muddy and some wellies!
Here’s a few photos taken while in Long Churns Cave last week, obviously due to the lack of natural light the picture quality is a bit poor so apologies for that.
The trip under ground includes a large variety of chambers – some you can easily walk through, others (like below) are a very tight squeeze but with the encouragement of your group and the guidance of an expert instructor you can get through some places that you would never believe you could.
The Rock Steady Caving experience is great for all sorts of groups from families, school groups, stag dos, hen parties as well as corporate team building or entertainment events.
We organise caving adventures across Yorkshire as half day or full day experiences or in combination with other adventures to create a fun packed day for your group – see Caving Yorkshire for more information.
Another busy weekend here at Rock Steady Adventure sorting kit for this week’s activities – including the purchase lots of new caving gloves as demand for exploring underground takes off with a bang!
Keep an eye on our facebook page for updates on what’s new for adult groups, including some new activity’s and some exciting new locations, and also what’s new for school groups that can really develop young abilities in the outdoors and help progress these aptitudes into important life skills.
There’s been a few enquiries from smaller groups this week so we’ll post the dates on our website and the Facebook page events incase any other small groups want to take advantage of the offers. Our events are normally exclusive for a group – but if you’re happy to share then we’re happy to facilitate that – just check the website for details of open courses – or contact us to arrange exclusive group outdoor adventures.
Ingleborough, Yorkshire Dales
This Saturday we’ve got a group from Keighley in West Yorkshire on a caving trip as an end of year staff reward day. They’ll be exploring caverns and potholes in the Yorkshire Dales with our expert instructors and hopefully having a good laugh in the process.
After a morning on the Ingleton Climbing wall due to rather inclement weather the corporate group descended into Long Churns for an afternoon’s caving – emerging a few hours later cold, tired but “all smiles” the day was deemed to be a success all round. For details of our potential outdoor adventures click the link and contact us to discuss your team building or staff reward day requirements.
